Frequently asked questions
How many people does an 8-inch cake serve?
A standard 8-inch round cake serves 15–20 people when cut as standard 1-inch wedding-size slices. For dessert-portion slices, expect 12 servings.
What size cake do I need for 50 guests?
For 50 guests choose a 12-inch round (40–50 servings) or a two-tier 10"+8" cake. For weddings where the cake is the dessert, scale up one size.
How big is a wedding cake for 100 guests?
A three-tier cake with 10", 8", and 6" tiers comfortably serves 60–80 wedding-size slices. For 100+ guests, add a fourth 12" tier or a sheet cake in the kitchen.
Should I order a bigger cake than I need?
Yes — order one size up. It is far better to have leftover cake than to leave guests waiting. Cake stays fresh for 3–4 days refrigerated.
